NO BIG TREES LEFT...

There are no more big trees left in the neighbourhood of Orinoco community. Therefore you can't find any material to elaborate the solid wood canoes "cayucos" anymore. Among the community people we decided, that this is not the situation after the next 20 years.

ORINOCO PEOPLE DECIDED TO MAKE A CHANGE

We decided to start plant new trees to re-establish the old destroyed forests. We decided to protect small trees until they are big enough to protect themselves against the jungle weed and wandering animals. Also we decided, that in 20 years we will have our cayuco trees again, but this time in sustainable way. Lastly we decided that we don't be the generation what prevent our children to make their own cayucos in the future. So we decided to make a change.

PROTECTING WATER SOURCES

Where to start to plant these small trees: of course to the most vulnerable areas, such as nearby the creeks. The advantage is double: while growing high the trees are preserving the limited sweet water resources and giving the opportunity to have valuable liquid in the future. Again, we decided to make a difference.

HELP US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Help Us to go on with this process. Orinoco people don't have enough economical resources to buy enough plants, barbed wire against the animals and fuel to transport the plants in the pangas to the reforestation areas. We calculated, that every tree has a investment value of $ 20 when it is 2-3 years old and though is tough enough to survive by itself.

ADOPT YOUR OWN MAHONGANY WITH PLATE AND GPS INFO

If You feel to take a part in this process economically; we provide You the planting and nursing process of the small trees. More than that: we provide you the specific information about Your adopted tree. We will take a video of the planting moment and put it to YouTube. In the video there is a personal metal plate of Your name (or name You suggested) and GPS coordinates of Your tree. If you want to come to Orinoco and see Your tree personally, it is possible and recommendable and easy, because of the unique geographical coordinates.

If You decided to be a part ..
